AGRIVENTURE ABACTIN (Abamactin 1.9% EC) Insecticide
Description:
AGRIVENTURE ABACTIN is a highly effective, naturally derived insecticide and acaricide used to control mites, thrips, and leaf miners in agricultural and horticultural crops. It works via contact and stomach action, paralyzing pests and halting their feeding within hours of application.
Technical content: Abamactin 1.9% EC
Key Features & Benefits:
- Dual-Action & Translaminar Mobility: The active ingredient acts as both a contact and stomach poison. Its strong translaminar action allows it to penetrate leaf tissues, effectively eliminating pests that hide on the underside of leaves.
- Complete Pest Cycle Control: It is effective at attacking all lifecycle stages (eggs, nymphs, and adults) of mites, preventing the pest population from rebounding.
- Resistance Management: Because it has a unique neurological mode of action (binding to glutamate-gated chloride channels), it excels at controlling pest populations that have grown resistant to traditional pyrethroid and organophosphate insecticides.
- Rapid Knockdown: Affected insects and mites become paralyzed and stop feeding within hours, immediately halting crop damage.
- Natural Origin & IPM Friendly: Derived from naturally occurring soil bacteria (Streptomyces avermitilis), it is highly effective at low doses and, when used as directed, has minimal impact on beneficial predatory insects, making it excellent for Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
Crops suitability:
- Vegetables: Tomato, chilli, brinjal, okra, cabbage, beans, and leafy greens.
- Cash Crops: Cotton.
- Horticulture & Fruit: Grapes, citrus, pome fruits, and nut crops.
- Ornamentals: Roses and various ornamental plants.
- Beverage: Tea.
Commonly used for (Insect / Diseases):
- Target Mites: Two-spotted spider mites, red spider mites, yellow mites & broad mites.
- Target Insects: Thrips and leaf miners.
- Secondary Sucking Pests: Aphids, whiteflies, and jassids
Mode of entry:
- Contact Action: The chemical acts directly on pests when they physically contact the spray.
- Stomach Action: Pests ingest the active ingredient while feeding on treated plant tissue.
- Translaminar Activity: The EC (Emulsifiable Concentrate) formulation penetrates the leaf tissue. It travels through the leaf, making it highly effective against pests (like mites and leafminers) that feed on the underside of leaves.
Mode of action:
- Nerve Disruption: Abamectin binds to the glutamate-gated chloride channels in the nerve and muscle cells of pests.
- Hyperpolarization: This binding increases the flow of chloride ions, preventing the transmission of nerve signals and leading to cell hyperpolarization.
- Paralysis and Death: Affected pests stop feeding almost immediately and become paralyzed, which ultimately results in death within a few days.
Mode of application: Foliar spray
