AGRIVENTURE PARADIC (Paraquat dichloride 24% SL) Herbicide
Description:
AGRIVENTURE PARADIC is a fast-acting, non-selective contact herbicide. It is widely used in agriculture to destroy green plant tissue on contact, making it highly effective for rapid weed burn-down, pre-plant field preparation, and inter-row weed management in crops like cotton, paddy, wheat, and tea.
Technical content: Paraquat dichloride 24% SL
Key Features & Benefits:
- Rapid Burn-Down: Destroys green plant tissue upon contact, with visible wilting and desiccation often noticeable within hours to 48 hours.
- Non-Selective Action: Controls a broad spectrum of emerged weeds, grasses, and broadleaf weeds without affecting mature brown stems and bark of crops.
- No Residual Activity: Deactivates quickly upon contact with the soil, leaving no residual carryover to harm subsequent rotational crops.
- Rainfast Formula: Becomes non-washable (rainfast) within minutes of application, ensuring effectiveness even if it rains shortly after spraying.
- Ideal for No-Till Farming: Controls only the above-ground foliage, leaving roots intact to hold the soil and prevent erosion.
Crops suitability:
- Plantations & Cash Crops: Cotton, sugarcane, rubber, and tea.
- Fruits & Orchards: Grapes, banana, citrus, coffee, and coconut palms.
- Cereals & Grains: Rice/paddy and wheat.
- Vegetables & Root Crops: Potato.
Commonly used for:
- Weed Control in Plantations & Orchards: Used to manage both grassy and broadleaf weeds in tea, coffee, rubber, and orchards. Directed sprays are used to avoid damaging the main crops.
- Pre-Planting / Pre-Emergence: Applied before crop planting to clear fields for conservation agriculture and no-till farming.
- Crop Desiccation: Used to dry out crops like cotton and potato prior to harvest, making the mechanical or manual harvesting process easier.
- Aquatic Weed Management: Used to control unwanted submerged and emergent aquatic vegetation.
- Non-Crop Areas: Used for clearing weeds along bunds, roadsides, and ditches.
Mode of entry: Contact
Mode of action:
- Photosynthetic Disruption: When absorbed by the foliage, paraquat interferes with electron transfer in the photosystem I complex during photosynthesis.Oxidative Stress: This interference generates destructive reactive oxygen species (ROS), such as superoxide radicals.
- Cell Destruction: These free radicals destroy cell membranes and cytoplasm, leading to rapid desiccation (drying out) of the green foliage, often visible within 24 to 48 hours.
Mode of application: Foliar spray
