AGRIVENTURE FIPRO (Fipronil 18.87% SC) Insecticide

AGRIVENTURE FIPRO (Fipronil 18.87% SC) Insecticide

Description:

AGRIVENTURE FIPRO is a broad-spectrum, phenylpyrazole-class insecticide used to control sucking pests and borers. It works via contact and ingestion to paralyze insects and is highly valued for managing thrips in crops like cotton, chillies, and vegetables. It also promotes plant growth enhancement.

Technical content: Fipronil 18.87% SC

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Dual Action: Acts as both a contact and ingestion poison, ensuring immediate feeding cessation and fast knockdown (mortality within 24–48 hours).
  • Plant Growth Enhancement (PGE): Beyond pest control, it promotes healthier roots, greener leaves, and better overall crop vigor.
  • Virus Vector Control: Highly effective against vector thrips, helping to minimize the spread of the destructive Tobacco Streak Virus (TSV).
  • Long-Lasting Residual: Provides 14 to 21 days of continuous protection with a single application, reducing the need for frequent sprays.
  • Environmentally and Soil Safe: At recommended Doses, it does not harm earthworms or beneficial soil microflora.
  • High Compatibility: Can be seamlessly tank-mixed with most standard agricultural insecticides and fungicide.

Crops suitability: Cotton, Chilli & Tomato, Sugarcane

Commonly used for (Insect / Diseases):

  • Cotton: Controls thrips (and reduces Tobacco Streak Virus spread), aphids, and jassids.
  • Chilli & Tomato: Controls fruit borers, thrips, and whiteflies.
  • Sugarcane: Targets early shoot borers and termites.

Mode of entry:

  • Ingestion: The primary route of entry. Insects consume the chemical while feeding on the treated crop foliage.
  • Contact: The chemical is absorbed directly through the insect's cuticle (outer body covering) as they crawl on the treated plant surfaces.

Mode of action:

  • GABA Receptor Blockade: Fipronil selectively binds to the Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA)-regulated chloride channels in the insect's nervous system.
  • Nerve Hyperexcitation: By blocking chloride ions from passing through these channels, the product stops the inhibitory action of GABA, leading to the severe hyperexcitation of nerves and muscles.
  • Paralysis & Death: This excessive nerve activity causes uncoordinated movements, rapid paralysis, and eventually the death of the target pest.

Mode of application: Foliar spray

Dose: 20 ml in 15-liter water

Additional information:

  • Timing: Spray during the cooler parts of the day—early morning or late evening—to maximize uptake and avoid peak bee activity (as Fipronil is highly toxic to bees).
  • Targeting: Apply at the very first sign of pest infestation (like silvery streaks or leaf curling) for maximum effectiveness.
  • Compatibility: It is generally compatible with standard insecticides and fungicides, but always conduct a small jar test before mixing.
