Description:
AGRIVENTURE FIFTHI is a broad-spectrum, dual-action insecticide used to protect crops from a variety of chewing and sucking pests. The SC (Suspension Concentrate) formulation is a liquid mixture designed to be diluted in water for foliar application, providing both immediate knockdown and long-lasting systemic control.

Mode of entry:
- Contact and Stomach Action (Fipronil): Fipronil acts as a GABA-gated chloride channel antagonist. It binds to the nerve endings of the insect, blocking the passage of chloride ions. This overstimulates the central nervous system, leading to rapid paralysis and death. It provides excellent quick knockdown effects when pests touch the treated plant surface or ingest the chemical.
- Systemic Action (Thiamethoxam): Thiamethoxam operates as an agonist to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) in the insect’s nervous system. It is absorbed rapidly by the plant roots and foliage and is translocated upward throughout the plant. As sap-feeding or chewing insects feed on the plant tissue, they ingest the systemic chemical, which disrupts nerve impulse transmissions and causes mortality.
Mode of action:
1. Fipronil (Phenylpyrazole Class)
- Nerve Blockage: Acts as a GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) receptor antagonist.
- Mechanism: It blocks the passage of chloride ions through GABA-regulated channels, preventing the normal regulation of the central nervous system.
- Effect: Causes fatal hyperexcitation of the nerves, followed by convulsions and rapid paralysis (knockdown).
2. Thiamethoxam (Neonicotinoid Class)
- Receptor Disruption: Acts as an agonist of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR).
- Mechanism: It binds to these receptors in the insect's nervous system, causing continuous nerve impulses to be transmitted.
- Effect: Leads to feeding cessation, paralysis, and eventual death of the target pest.
