AGRIVENTURE THAYO MECTIN (Emamectin Benzoate 3.0% + Thiamethoxam 12.0% WG) Insecticide
Description:
AGRIVENTURE THAYO MECTIN is a dual-action, water-dispersible granular insecticide. It combines the contact and translaminar action of Emamectin Benzoate with the systemic properties of Thiamethoxam. This formulation paralyzes and kills both chewing (caterpillars) and sucking pests.
Technical content: Emamectin Benzoate 3.0% + Thiamethoxam 12.0% WG
Key Features & Benefits:
- Translaminar & Systemic: Quickly absorbed into foliage, killing pests hidden on the underside of leaves.
- Rain fastness: Becomes rain-resistant within 4 hours of application.
- Phyto-tonic Effect: Promotes plant health and keeps the crop greener and stronger.
Crops suitability:
- Vegetables (Tomato, Brinjal, Okra, etc.)
- Cash Crops (Cotton, Chillies)
- Beverage Crops (Tea)
- Field Crops (Paddy, Maize, Soybean, Pulses)
Commonly used for (Insect / Diseases):
- Lepidopteran (Chewing) Pests: Bollworms, shoot and fruit borers, leaf folders, diamondback moths (DBM), and semi-loopers.
- Sucking Pests: Thrips, aphids, jassids, whiteflies, and brown planthoppers (BPH).
- Other: Tea mosquito bugs and gall midges.
Mode of entry:
- Systemic and Contact Action (Thiamethoxam): Absorbed rapidly by the plant (roots, stems, and leaves), making the entire plant toxic to pests. Insects are affected both by ingesting the sap and by making physical contact with the chemical.
- Stomach and Translaminar Action (Emamectin Benzoate): Works primarily through ingestion (stomach poison) as the insect feeds on the crop. It also possesses translaminar properties, allowing it to move across leaf layers to kill pests hiding on the underside of leaves.
Mode of action:
The formulation relies on a synergistic combination of two distinct mechanisms:
1. Emamectin Benzoate (3.0%):
- Target: Chewing pests (like caterpillars, borers, and loopers).
- Mechanism: It enhances the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and opens chloride channels in the nerve and muscle cells of the insect. This floods the nervous system with chloride ions, disrupting nerve signals and causing irreversible paralysis.
- Result: Affected insects stop feeding within a few hours and die shortly after.
2. Thiamethoxam (12.0%):
- Target: Sucking pests (like aphids, jassids, thrips, and whiteflies).
- Mechanism: It acts on the central nervous system by blocking the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. This causes prolonged nerve overstimulation, leading to tremors, paralysis, and death.
- Result: It provides rapid knock-down effects and is systemic, meaning the plant absorbs it into its sap to kill pests feeding on the plant
Mode of application: Foliar spray
Dose: 0.5gm – 1gm per 1-liter water or 10-15 gm in 15-liter water
Additional information:
- Key Benefits of the WG Formulation:
- Systemic and Translaminar Action: The mixture is absorbed by plant tissues (systemic) and moves across leaf layers (translaminar), allowing it to control hidden pests on the underside of leaves.
- Rain fastness: As a Water Dispersible Granule (WG), it dissolves easily and typically becomes rain fast within 4 hours of application.
- Resistance Management: By attacking pests via two different neurological pathways, it helps prevent and break pest resistance, making it suitable for crops like cotton, chilies, and tea.
