Description:

AGRIVENTURE GLYPHO SILVER is a broad-spectrum, non-selective, contact post-emergence herbicide. It effectively controls a wide range of annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds in crops like cotton and tea. It works by inhibiting the enzyme glutamine synthetase, causing a rapid buildup of toxic ammonia in plant tissues.

Mode of action:

  • Enzyme Inhibition: Once inside the plant, it irreversibly inhibits the glutamine synthetase enzyme (Herbicide Site of Action Group 10).
  • Ammonia Accumulation: This crucial enzyme is responsible for converting glutamate and ammonia into the essential amino acid glutamine. By blocking it, phytotoxic levels of ammonia build up within plant cells.
  • Membrane Disruption: The high concentrations of ammonia destroy cell membrane integrity, which allows cellular contents to leak. It also rapidly disrupts photosynthesis and amino acid synthesis.
  • Desiccation & Death: Affected weeds suffer from rapid yellowing (chlorosis), leaf desiccation (drying out), and complete plant death within a few days.
